Les passages couverts, or The Covered Passages of Paris

Even in the rain, Paris is a city with much to discover. This time I visited the passages couverts, or the covered passages. Straight out of the belle epoch, the passages are home to funky, one-of-a-kind bookshops, ateliers, textile shops, museums, second-hand shops, hotels and boutiques with all manner of intriguing articles.

Raising the Maypole (Maibaum) in Bavaria near Munich

Each year on May 1st most European countries celebrate May Day, which is the equivalent of Labor Day in the US. Bavarians decorate a tall pole with an evergreen wreath at the top. It's a grand effort and ceremony to raise it. Then they, well, dance around the maypole! Here's my timelapse video of just such an event near Munich, Germany.
