Road Trip through Cameron Pass, Colorado, and into Wyoming

A wonderful Labor Day road trip from Denver area to Cameron Pass, Colorado. Then up to Wyoming and back through Laramie to Home. All in all, about eight hours and lots of beautiful scenery, a moose and some antelope.

Seeking out smoked wings and good beer, I found them at James Peak Brewery in Nederland, Colorado. Ned isn't far from the Eldora Mountain ski area and hosts a crazy annual Frozen Dead Guy Days celebration, which I'll go back for.

Historic Georgetown Loop Railroad Steam Train in Silver Plume, Colorado

The Georgetown Loop Railroad that departs from either Devil's Gate Station or Silver Plume Depot is a fun tourist attraction for the whole family. It traces a restored mining route, can include a mine tour and panning for gold or silver, and uses historic, restored steam locomotives. At a moderate price, it's a good daytrip from Denver, Colorado, into the Rockies.
