It traces a restored mining route, can include a mine tour and panning for gold or silver, and uses historic, restored steam locomotives. At a moderate price, it's a good daytrip from Denver, Colorado, into the Rockies.

In addition to the spa resorts, it offers history such as Doc Holliday, wonderful restaurants, historic hotels and even an altitudinous amusement park! Just a few hours west of Denver by car or Amtrak, it makes a great weekend destination.
