Old Prospector Statue in Downtown Denver, Colorado

The Old Prospector sculpture in Denver, Colorado, has quite a back story. Not only was it modeled after John Straughn, a larger-than-life character, it was sculpted by a German metalworker. It used to stand atop the now-gone Colorado Gold Mining Exchange building - itself a historical treasure.

Public Audio Art: Denver’s Soundwalk

Public audio art by Jim Green is installed in Curtis Street's sidewalk in downtown Denver, Colorado. Sounds that seem out of place in the city setting emanate from sidewalk grates in the midst of the usual traffic noise. It will catch your attention and actually make you feel good!

No. 2 Pencil Smokestack in Denver, Colorado

An unused smokestack in downtown Denver sports a paint job that makes it look like a giant pencil, complete with eraser. Although not one of Denver's top tourist attractions, it's pretty neat to see.

Denver’s (Defunct) TV Walk of Fame

Near the PBS station in Denver is a now-defunct walk of fame. The concrete sidewalk tiles are signed by TV stars from the 1960s, including Charlton Heston, Linda Evans and possibly Jerry Lewis. I managed to capture these photos before they demolish the property.

‘Mork and Mindy’ Tour of Boulder, CO (Tribute to Robin Williams)

Imagine my excitement when I discovered that the exterior shots in the 'Mork and Mindy' TV show from the 70s were done in Boulder, CO! I immediately made a pilgrimage to their house, the church where they were married, Mindy's dad's music store and the New York Deli. Check out the pix!

At the west end of Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, Colorado, is The Kitchen, a bistro that serves fresh, locally-sourced fare as well as craft beer and organic wines. The service is great, the food is perfect and the beverages fantastic!
