Curly-cut radishes - they call them Radi at Oktoberfest in Germany, and their salty goodness is the perfect accompaniment to beer. You can make them at home with a vegetable spiral-cutter and little else. They are delicious as well as raw vegan, gluten-free, non-dairy and all that other healthy stuff.
This cold, pickled sausage salad is a staple in Europe. The Germans have a similar dish called Wurstsalat. This is a Czech family recipe given to me when I lived there a few years ago, and you can find it in my book ATFT: Collected Czech Family Recipes. It makes a great snack, light meal, game day nosh or potluck dish.

Isn’t it handsome?? I’m so proud of it. In addition to the recipes and cooking tips, it’s filled with travel stories, culture and history I’ve come to know by living in Bavaria.
