Even in the rain, Paris is a city with much to discover. This time I visited the passages couverts, or the covered passages. Straight out of the belle epoch, the passages are home to funky, one-of-a-kind bookshops, ateliers, textile shops, museums, second-hand shops, hotels and boutiques with all manner of intriguing articles.

After an amusing taxi ride, our little traveling foursome arrived at the medieval La Sainte-Chapelle in Paris. It's very near Notre Dame. The fascinating gargoyles adorning the facade were a fitting preface to the ornate interior. But the absolute best part of it was all the stained glass!

In addition to a huge selection of local and imported cheeses, you can have lunch at the bistro or a drink at the bar. Worth every effort to get there from Denver!
