Visit the grave of a beloved dog that was a pet of toll booth operators in the 1950s. Shep the Turnpike Dog's grave is now located next to the Broomfield Depot Museum in Colorado.
Photos of my tour of the Molly Brown House Museum in the elite Capitol Hill neighborhood of Denver, Colorado. Margaret Brown was a socialite, but not the raucous loudmouth of the movies. Her Victorian house has been lovingly restored and refurbished so you can see what it was like as a wealthy inhabitant of Colorado in the 1800s.
Buffalo Bill's Grave and Museum (Pahaska Teepee) on Lookout Mountain in Golden, CO. Just outside of Denver, this is a family, kid-friendly tourist destination. The views are spectacular and the museum is well done.
Longmont, CO, Museum hosted a lowrider car and culture exhibit and I got to see it! Though small, they managed to present some prime car specimens which displayed the artwork and culture of the Mexican lowrider culture to advantage. Check out my photos!
The Museum of Fine Art in St. Petersburg, Florida, is small but impressive. I've visited it more or less regularly for years, and they present quality exhibitions in a professional environment. A 2006 expansion allows the museum to offer a cafe and respectable gift shop, in addition to their permanent collection and revolving exhibits. It's a fine way to spend an afternoon, especially if you include the nearby Dali Museum in your itinerary.
