Wide-ranging art exhibit at Bamberg, Germany's Villa Dessauer, a historical mansion. Picasso, Beuys, Dali, Chagall, Lindner, Hundertwasser, Kandinsky, and many, many other famous artists are displayed.
A visit with my friends in Kronach, Bavaria, just up the road from Bamberg. The occasion: Crana Historica, a medieval festival with castle battle reenactments from the 30 Years War against Sweden, plus camps, peasants, nobles and vendors from the Middle Ages.
Some rather artsy photos I took of ice and wood in and around Bischberg in Bavaria, Germany. The ice was frost on the window plus huge blocks of ice on the river after a hard freeze. The wood is from a sawmill in my neighborhood.
A trip with my German "parents" to the Bayerische Wald, or Bavarian Forest: staying at Steinbruchsee inn, delicious food, gorgeous nature and hand-hewn woodworking, not to mention loads of taxidermy! Part 1
Germany is in full bloom, with pussy willows in the flower stalls, gearing up for Easter. Visitor from the States - and former Bamberg resident - leads me on a beautiful, if uphill, walk to Altenburg, the medieval castle on the hill.
My first of several visits to BMW Welt in Munich, Germany. It's next to the Olympia Park where the 1972 Olympics were held and those terrorists created such a stir. It was a peaceful visit, though, and one of my longtime wishes came true!
