Denver Central Market, in an old warehouse, features gourmet food and beverage vendors: a bar, meat, fish, sandwiches, ice cream, chocolate, coffee and more - all in a comfortable, neighborhood atmosphere.
A water tower painted to look like a Savery Savory Mushroom can stands along Federal Boulevard in Westminster, Colorado. It used to serve a mushroom farm on the site and is now considered a valuable, historical monument.
The Old Prospector sculpture in Denver, Colorado, has quite a back story. Not only was it modeled after John Straughn, a larger-than-life character, it was sculpted by a German metalworker. It used to stand atop the now-gone Colorado Gold Mining Exchange building - itself a historical treasure.
Public audio art by Jim Green is installed in Curtis Street's sidewalk in downtown Denver, Colorado. Sounds that seem out of place in the city setting emanate from sidewalk grates in the midst of the usual traffic noise. It will catch your attention and actually make you feel good!
Near the PBS station in Denver is a now-defunct walk of fame. The concrete sidewalk tiles are signed by TV stars from the 1960s, including Charlton Heston, Linda Evans and possibly Jerry Lewis. I managed to capture these photos before they demolish the property.
Imagine my excitement when I discovered that the exterior shots in the 'Mork and Mindy' TV show from the 70s were done in Boulder, CO! I immediately made a pilgrimage to their house, the church where they were married, Mindy's dad's music store and the New York Deli. Check out the pix!
